Though to be fair, it seems as though Spring has been here all along. I do not know how many days I walked out the door to smell the freshness of wet dirt... in December. It smells so fresh you can taste it!
And the desire for fresh food is growing. Two borrowed crock pots and I am in self-sustaining heaven. No reason to live life out of a can even if you can only manage to scramble enough cash for a few veggies and a small chunk of meat. It is better to do that than eat all the sodium and junk in the processed foods.
So on my birthday a lamb dinner of which these are the staring veggies. Fennel, red onion and parsnips. The lime and Greek seasoning made the lamb just as tasty as could be.
Since then there has been a meatloaf of exceptional quality. I ground my own bread crumbs in the food processor. Then I processed 4 ounces of portabella mushrooms and one half a sweet onion to add to the meatloaf. Heaven! It made for a very smooth blend and even cooking throughout, which is especially important in a crock pot!
Next up: Cornish hen with carrots, parsnips, onion and mushroom.
And what does all of this have to do with being a geek? Simple. If you are good to your body. Your body will be good to you. And that means that your brain will keep doing all the things that it needs to do so that you can do all the things that your Geeky little selves love to do. Mental and intellectual health must be protected at all cost. And it starts with you and your food choices.
And your sleep choices.
But mostly it is your food choices. That's what keeps the dilithium in your warp core fully charged.
